Roda golf hotel and beach resort

We are proud to announce that De Vere has signed a contract with the Calidona Group to manage Roda Golf and Beach Resort, a 140 bedroom hotel, spa, beach club and 18-hole golf course in the Murcia Region of Spain. Located in a natural setting close to the famous Mar Menor, this golfer's paradise offers an excellent year round climate and easy access to miles of Mediterranean beaches.

At the resort guests can indulge in a range of actoivities including swimming, tennis and, of course, golf. Nearby, can try a range of activities including sailing, water skiing and trekking. Or why not step out in to the local area and discover medieval villages, explore fertile valleys or simply indulge in a spot of retail therapy.

The golf facilities are now open so why not indulge in a round of golf in the Spanish sunshine? Construction of the hotel will commence later this year and the hotel is expected to open in the summer of 2010.

Ladies Scottish Open at the Carrick proves a Great Success

Nocera scoops European Title at Cameron House

Despite a day of changeable weather Gwladys Nocera scooped a two shot victory at the Scottish Ladies Open, winning her sixth European Tour victory in two years. Tying with Sweden's Maria Boden at the end of the first round, the 32-year old from Biarritz birdied the second hole to take a two stroke advantage that lead her clear of the opposition and towards her final position at the top of the leader board.

The traditional Scottish heathland course provided challenging and exciting play, with five of the Championship players finishing below the course's par 71 rating. Scottish talents Claire Queen and Kathryn Imrie carded an excellent round, finishing joint 6th, despite Queen snapping her driver shaft during a photo call the day before.

De Vere Cameron House was delighted to welcome the Championship back to the course at the Carrick after its eleven year hiatus and is expected to host the competition again next year.

The Players

Mhairi McKay

Played in both the 2002 and 2003 Solheim Cup teams. She won her first event at the AAMI Australian Women's Open, beating Laura Davies in a nail-bitingly dramatic Sunday afternoon round.

Sophie Gustafson

Won the 2007 Final New Star Money List, thereby finishing as the official European number one for the third time. She also won her 22nd career victory at the 2007 De Vere Ladies Scottish Open.

Claire Queen

Enjoyed a sensational start to the 2007 season when she traveled to Australia as a reserve, then finished tied for 6th at the ANZ Ladies Masters, almost guaranteeing her playing rights for 2008!

The new Boathouse restaurant opens at Cameron House


		Cameron House unveiled its latest dining sensation, the new Boathouse restaurant, at a stylish opening party this month.

With modern menus and panoramic views across Loch Lomond, the Boathouse aims to provide a relaxed setting for a light lunch or morning coffee. With dishes such as the delightful bucket of shrimp and hearty classics such as the head chef's signature New England Chowder, this restaurant promises to be a waterside success.

Slaley Hall Named Hotel of the Year

De Vere Deluxe hotel, Slaley Hall was named Hotel of the Year last night at the North East England Tourism Awards. Winners across 14 categories were unveiled at a ceremony held at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland.

Famous for its championship golf courses and 1,000 acre tranquil setting near Hexham, Northumberland, Slaley Hall took the top award of the night in the Large Hotel of the Year Category and goes through to the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, organised by Visit Britain.

The annual North East England Tourism Awards are organised by regional development agency, One NorthEast and form the regional heat of the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence. The awards showcase the work undertaken by tourism providers in North East England, and include a range of categories to reflect the quality, performance and innovation in the tourism sector. An independent panel of tourism experts judges each category, with the emphasis on quality and impeccable standards of accommodation and service.

Carden Park, Chester Unveils its New & Striking Refurbishment

Of the £5 million invested into the refurbishment of this historic 17th Century Estate, half was allocated just to the 196 Executive bedrooms. By employing only the finest materials and most striking colour schemes, the finished result exudes style and comfort.

Guests can be confident that every room consists of all the modern facilities one would expect of a four star hotel as well as the more luxurious additions such as Sky TV and spacious sitting areas. So whether you are treating yourself to a relaxing break or looking for a dynamic base from which to explore the local area, prepare yourself for a truly indulgent experience.

The remaining £2.5 million has been spent lovingly restoring the Peacock Bar, Lounge & Library. What's more, for those all-important first impressions, the sweeping, spacious area of the Reception & Foyer is now both welcoming and stylish.

From the rich colours and patterns to the chandeliers and chaise longues, the décor completes the look and feel of Carden Park. The hotel already boasts a fantastic leisure club, including swimming pool, gymnasium, steam room, sauna and whirlpool spa. Keen golfers will be pleased to know there are two 18-hole Championship courses and a 9-hole Azalea Course as well as a purpose built golf school.

Herons’ Reach's wedding ceremonies at the clock tower

Inspired by a local resident, De Vere Collection Herons' Reach has licensed its clock tower for wedding ceremonies; the license will begin in April this year and will see its first couple wed on the 26th July.

Commenting on the reasons for its recent license, Linzie Blundell, wedding coordinator, said: "The decision to license the clock tower came about last year when we heard from a local lady who told us of her engagement and her long-lived dream to get married at the clock tower at Herons' Reach. We're delighted to have this couple as the first couple to get married at the clock tower."

With strong interest surrounding the clock tower recently and wedding ceremonies already booked in for 2009, the clock tower at Herons' Reach is a unique setting to get married. With 236 acres of tranquil land surrounding her, the bride will walk the steps down from the hotel, and follow the path that leads directly to the clock tower, under which her groom will be waiting.

Of outdoor wedding ceremonies, Linzie is pragmatic: "The unpredictable British weather is always a concern when it comes to outdoor ceremonies, but we will have canopies on stand-by if it does rain."

Herons' Reach offers fabulous wedding packages to suit a range of wedding day needs, including golf and spa days, delicious menu's, specially selected wine lists and a dedicated and professional wedding coordinator to ensure the day runs smoothly.
